The Ultimates #8 by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri is the debut of the new Ultimate Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Comprised of Star-Lord, Captain Marvel, Cosmo, and a living incarnation of the Ultimate Nullifier, this team of far-future heroes have returned to the past to retrieve a long-lost teammate.
After some rash decisions and a strong misunderstanding, a violent fight between the Ultimates and the Guardians breaks loose. In the conflict, the Guardians assert their overwhelming strength, even rendering She-Hulk useless. Surprisingly, this fight isn’t the first time a Guardian has put down a Hulk.

After Captain Marvel unleashes an energy beam against Captain America, the conflict turns into an all-out brawl of misunderstandings. The Guardians of the Galaxy, despite being outnumbered, outclass the Ultimates completely, only stopping thanks to America Chavez’s power. During the struggle, She-Hulk and the Ultimate Nullifier clash. What should have been an easy fight for the gamma-mutate is quickly halted when she is hit by the Guardian’s “N-Gun.” Unlike his Earth-616 counterpart, the Ultimate Nullifier doesn’t seem to be as all-destructive. Instead, his N-Gun has the ability to completely nullify anything’s kinetic energy.

Most Hulks are compelled by their anger and rage. As vessels for the One Below All’s infinite destructive will, Hulks are singularly created to destroy. Without fancy weapons like the N-Gun, it’s nearly impossible to bring a Hulk down. However, in an alternate zombie-infested reality, Groot has proved to be the only other Guardian of the Galaxy capable of stopping the Hulk. After the Green Behemoth went on a violent rage against the zombie threat, Groot wrapped his woody tendrils around the Hulk’s neck, slowly choking the hero into unconsciousness. No matter how hard the Hulk struggled, Groot maintained the advantage.
