The trailer for the horror-comedy The Invisible Raptor, starring Sean Astin, has debuted. Known for his performances in Stranger Things and The Lord of the Rings, Astin joins a cast of characters that include a disgraced paleontologist, his ex-girlfriend, an eccentric amusement park security guard, and a famous chicken farmer. They take on the near-impossible task of chasing and attempting to kill the hyper-intelligent invisible raptor on the loose in their town.
Well Go USA Entertainment has now released a trailer showing the invisible raptor stalking its prey, along with the hilarious attempts to take down the formidable predator. Check out the trailer below:
Astin appears to be a scientist who works in the laboratory where the invisible raptor was made and where it escapes from before terrorizing the local town. Mike Capes, who is also one of the movie’s producers, plays paleontologist Grant Walker, whose dinosaur knowledge proves useful when hunting the raptor.
What This Means For The Invisible Raptor
The Invisible Raptor‘s horror comedy is in the same vein as movies like Cocaine Bear, the Sharknado movies, and Rubber, the last of which follows a tire that comes to life and kills people. The Invisible Raptor has an outrageous premise, but is fully aware of this, and does not take itself too seriously while fully leaning into the absurd heights of its comedy and horror. This tone is made perfectly clear as the dinosaur disarms Walker and fires his own gun at him, followed by Capes’ overly dramatic delivery that the town is now threatened by an invisible raptor.
Having the well-known Astin as part of the cast can help
The Invisible Raptor
gain more attention.
While The Invisible Raptor is unlikely to become a mainstream hit, it is poised to resonate with those who have enjoyed Cocaine Bear, Sharknado, Rubber, and similarly over-the-top horror comedies. Having the well-known Astin as part of the cast can help The Invisible Raptor gain more attention, as Lord of the Rings actors and other high-profile stars are often not in these kinds of movies. Even though he does not play the protagonist, Astin is still an important character connected to the raptor’s creation and escape.
Our Take On The Invisible Raptor Trailer
It Looks Entertaining For The Simplest Reasons
A hyper-intelligent invisible raptor and a cast featuring Astin is enough to make me curious about watching the absurd horror-comedy movie. Dangerous creatures with a supernatural twist escaping a laboratory is coincidentally reminiscent to the premise of Stranger Things, although it is highly unlikely to have the same kind of success. Nevertheless, The Invisible Raptor looks to be ridiculously entertaining enough to make it worth viewing.
