Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has landed another impressive box office milestone despite the video game movie’s VOD release as its theatrical run continues. The newest entry in the film series has managed to become the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, earning $446.4 million against a $122 million budget as of writing. Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s positive reviews have contributed to this continued success, praising Keanu Reeves’ inclusion as Shadow the Hedgehog, alongside the film’s willingness to embrace the games. It was released on VOD and digital on January 21, 2025, but remains playing in theaters worldwide.
Now, The Numbers has confirmed through their Top 2024 Movies at the International Box Office list that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has made its way into the Top 20, despite its recent VOD release. The movie is currently Number 19 among the highest-grossing films internationally in 2024, earning a collective $220.4 million at the international box office. The highest-ranked country for this is the United Kingdom, where it’s earned $28.9 million as of writing.
