David Fincher is reportedly developing a new Squid Game series for Netflix. This news comes two months ahead of Squid Game season 2 debuting on Netflix after a more than three-year hiatus since season 1, and following the announcement that the hit series would conclude after season 3. While anticipation for the next steps in the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) continues to build, there has been speculation about what Fincher’s next project would be.
As per Deadline, Fincher is working on a new English-language Squid Game series, with this project expected to be the acclaimed director’s main focus in 2025. This will be the first scripted offshoot of Squid Game, as the first spinoff was the unscripted reality series Squid Game: The Challenge. It will also be the first English-language scripted series for the franchise, which began in 2021, and a noticeable departure from the original series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

I do not want to see the franchise stray too far from these roots, but it is also important to note that the potential spinoff is still in the very early stages.
