Netflix’s Trending Biblical Movies Are A Reminder To Watch This Beloved Animated Musical Before It Leaves The Streaming Service

Several Biblical movies are trending on Netflix, with these films acting as a reminder to watch the beloved animated musical The Prince of Egypt before it leaves the streaming service. Biblical movies tend to have a bump in popularity around the holidays, with the Biblical traditions surrounding holidays like Christmas causing many families to go back and watch some of these animated and live-action classics. Although not a Christmas film, The Prince of Egypt is the perfect movie to watch for fans of these other Biblical projects, but there isn’t much time left to see it on Netflix.

As of the writing of this article, The Star and Mary are both trending on Netflix, with both of these films being centered around the Christian Nativity story. 2017’s The Star is an animated film that follows a donkey named Bo and his other animal friends as they follow the titular celestial object in order to find the birthplace of Jesus. Netflix’s 2024 film Mary is a live-action movie that tells a similar story, with this version focusing on the mother of Jesus as she faces persecution due to her divine conception, causing her to flee.

The Acclaimed Animated Musical Prince Of Egypt Is Leaving Netflix Soon

On December 31, 2024

While all kinds of Biblical movies have been made throughout the years, one of the most widely beloved ones is DreamWorks’ The Prince of Egypt. The 1998 animated musical tells the story of Moses from the book of Exodus, with the film following the adopted son of the pharaoh as he discovers his roots as a Jewish slave, flees Egypt, and then returns in order to free his people from his brother Ramses. Although The Prince of Egypt does make some changes to the source material, it remains surprisingly accurate in context and in spirit to the original story of Moses.
