Courage, one of the five Royal Virtues in Metaphor: ReFantazio, is a measure of the main character’s bravery and willingness to face danger. A higher Courage stat unlocks unique dialogue options, deepens relationships with your followers, and even grants access to special quests and activities. It’s a great virtue to focus on because it usually lets you say things that the protagonist would be too scared to say otherwise, and those situations make you feel like a real hero.
There are many more ways to increase your courage than in other Atlus games. The developers seem to know that players want many more ways to increase courage than the random “eat this food you can only find on this day” option. Metaphor: ReFantazio has better ways than Persona 5 because of these changes, so you’re not stuck looking for the most random places to increase this stat. While it’s much simpler, it takes a lot of time to do.
How To Increase Your Courage
The Best Ways To Increase Courage
Similar to increasing your Wisdom level, the most straightforward way to raise your Courage in Metaphor: ReFantazio is by tackling quests, doing certain activities, and completing bounties. These activities often involve participating in challenges, competing in the Coliseum, and spending time with Strohl. If you have already done most of the activities, the Recruitment Centre is a great place to find a variety of quests and bounties. These are a steady stream of ways to increase your courage and income if there are no other quick options.

There’s also a book called “Top Secret Poetry! Do Not Read!” This book, hidden on the Gauntlet Runner, offers an easy way to increase your Courage. Each time you read it, you gain Courage points, making this an easy, repeatable activity. The best way is always to spend time with Strohl on the Gauntlet Runner. For those who want a more engaging way to increase courage, it’s a great idea to go to the Coliseum.
Five Distinct Ranks
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, you don’t have to rely on your best guess for how brave you are. You will go through a series of ranks that tell you how much courage you have, and that determines how well you handle certain situations. As seen in the demo, you start with Craven, but you gain courage as you do the activities that rank your Courage up. As you progress, you’ll unlock five distinct Courage Ranks: Craven, Spirited, Fearless, Dauntless, and Heroic, as seen in Legendary#7‘s video on YouTube.
It can be tough to level up in the game, and even with focusing on one skill, it takes a while before you see it close to the top. Unfortunately, If you try to work on everything at once, you might not make much progress in any skill. So, it’s a good idea to focus on the skills that are most important to you. You can also get to do special missions and fight tougher bosses only when you have a higher courage Stat. This is a favorite stat from Atlus for many players, so it’s no surprise that it is here in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
