Manchester City are interested in signing Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider. Kimmich, who can operate as a right-back or as a midfielder, is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season, and although talks over a new deal are ongoing, defending Premier League champions City believe that they could strike a deal.
City manager Pep Guardiola worked with Kimmich at Bayern. The Citizens are looking to sign a new central midfielder in the January transfer window because of the long-term injury to Rodri. Kimmich has featured in midfield for Bayern this season.
Bayern are at the top of the Bundesliga table at the moment with 45 points from 18 matches, four points clear of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, City, who could offload Jack Grealish in January, currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League table with 38 points from 22 matches, two points behind Chelsea, who are fourth and occupy the final Champions League spot.
