King Gomah has made it clear that he wants to be an unchecked ruler over the Demon Realm in Dragon Ball Daima. While it’s King Gomah’s actions that directly pull Goku and his friends into action, the true conflict does not stem from Gomah himself. There have been clues throughout Dragon Ball Daima’s current run that point to a specific mastermind who is orchestrating events from the shadows.
Among the new characters introduced in Daima, Dr. Arinsu stands out as a much more notable figure after it is revealed that Glorio, Goku’s supposed ally, is working for her. This revelation brings to light a multitude of possibilities and places Dr. Arinsu right in the center. Even more intriguing is that everything that has happened so far is linked right back to Dr. Arinsu.
Dr. Arinsu Planted The Idea That Goku Would Get In King Gomah’s Way
Gomah’s Dismissal Of Dr. Arinsu Pushed Her To Take Action In A Cunning Way
In episode one of Dragon Ball Daima, quickly after Dr. Arinsu is introduced, she brings the conversation to Goku after a blatant dismissal from King Gomah. She suggests that if Goku and his friends were to travel to the Demon Realm, they would pose a threat to Gomah’s rule, and this fact clearly shakes him to his core. While Degesu is the voice of reason, saying that they have no reason to venture to the Demon Realm, King Gomah insists that they use Earth’s Dragon Balls to turn Goku and his friends into children in order to protect himself.
Dr. Arinsu shifted the conversation to Goku and his power in a calculated scheme to expose Gomah to fears about threats that he had not considered. By framing Goku and his friends as a direct threat, she indirectly pushes Gomah to take action by destabilizing his confidence. With a single suggestion, Dr. Arinsu cleverly laid the groundwork for staging a power shift that could undermine King Gomah without her lifting a finger.
Episode Six Revealed Glorio Is Working For Dr. Arinsu
Glorio’s Allegiance To Dr. Arinsu Proves She’s A True Mastermind
In episode six, it’s discovered that Glorio is working for Dr. Arinsu after speaking to her over a phone call, revealing that Glorio isn’t exactly who he says he is. This new information adds to the mystery surrounding his arrival on Earth and becomes another piece of the puzzle. Dr. Arinsu planted the idea that Goku is a threat to Gomah, and then when Glorio arrives, he specifically asks for Goku and offers to take him directly to the Demon Realm in order to defeat Gomah.
Glorio was chosen by Dr. Arinsu to carry out her carefully orchestrated plot rather than his initial story of acting out of his own interests. His insistence on escorting Goku to the Demon Realm can’t be taken as a move of convenience now that viewers are aware of his allegiance to Dr. Arinsu. By using Glorio, she further proves her resourcefulness by effectively hiding her involvement from Goku and his friends as well as King Gomah himself.
Dr. Arinsu Has A Clear Motive Behind Why She Would Be Pulling The Strings
King Gomah Suggested He’s Going To Cut Off Her Funding
In episode one of Dragon Ball Daima, Dr. Arinsu directly made her motives and priorities known. Under King Dabura’s rule, she was given funding for her research and insisted that Gomah should continue to do so as well. However, while Gomah does not refuse outright, he implies that he wouldn’t be willing to fund her research, which clearly upsets Dr. Arinsu. In the recent episode of Daima, Shin himself admits that his sister, Dr. Arinsu is a mad scientist and ambitious.
Dr. Arinsu’s subtle reaction to Gomah’s dismissal of her research lasted a mere second, yet it spoke volumes of her cunningness, especially with her immediate mention of Goku. Shin’s description of her being ambitious and a mad scientist makes Dr. Arinsu’s reaction to Gomah’s lack of support all the more telling. This context suggests that Dr. Arinsu is taking calculated steps against Gomah in an attempt to secure her funding in any way she has to. Dr. Arinsu has been pulling the strings from behind the scenes throughout Dragon Ball Daima in carefully orchestrated moves to protect her research.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is the fifth overall series in the action-adventure anime franchise. It features most of the classic cast members as de-aged versions of themselves, including Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma. The series was announced at NYCC 2023, with creator Akira Toriyama returning to handle DAIMA’s run.
