Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman: Full Moon #2!Thanks to an encounter with a real creature of the night, Batman has gone howling crazy and become a true-blue werewolf. Bruce Wayne may not believe in supernatural, but the supernatural has come for him, setting the Caped Crusader up for a dark path he may not be able to come back from.
In Batman: Full Moon #2 by Rodney Barnes and Stevan Subic, Bruce is recovering from his fight with Christian Talbot, a werewolf that’s come to Gotham. Despite Batman preferring to take the scientific approach, he allows Zatanna to heal him. Unfortunately, her spell fails and Bruce is still bound to his inner beast.
Batman sends a sample of his DNA to Kirk Langstrom to find a cure while Batman heads off to confront Talbot. However, Langstrom also fails, just as the full moon comes out. Batman is helpless as he transforms into a werewolf, ripping his costume and the Batmobile.
Batman Goes Wild and Becomes a Big, Bad Werewolf
Is the Dark Knight Truly Stuck in His New Form?
Batman’s city has a lot of dangerous threats lurking in the shadows, but Gotham got worse with the arrival of Christian Talbot, a former soldier cursed with lycanthropy. He was offered aid by Wayne Pharmaceuticals, but they were unable to cure him and when a full moon arrived, Christian’s darker half destroyed the building and killed numerous people. Batman began to investigate the strange case and, despite all the surrounding evidence, bristled at the idea of something supernatural. But reality made itself painfully clear when Batman confronted the werewolf, which bit him and passed its curse to the Caped Crusader.
Gotham was already imperiled when it had one werewolf running around. Now it has two and the newest creature has all of Batman’s skills and training. Worse, there doesn’t appear to be a way to get this curse removed from Batman. Zatanna’s magic failed and Langstrom couldn’t find any scientific approach to helping Bruce. Granted, this story is non-canonical, so it’s not like the Prime Universe Batman is in danger, but for this particular incarnation, things are looking grim. If his friends and allies can’t find a way to restore his humanity, Batman could be stuck as a werewolf permanently.
Werewolf Batman is a Danger to Everyone in Gotham
Could the Hero Wind Up Hurting Someone He Cares About?
Christian was able to do some serious damage to Gotham once his inner monster took over. Just imagine the destruction a Batman with no morals, no code and the full fury of a werewolf could do. While Zatanna and John Constantine are on his side, something appears to be preventing Bruce from being cured. If they don’t act fast, Batman could wind up stuck like this and everyone in Gotham will suffer as a result. Villains, allies, and even innocents are all at risk as long as Batman’s lycanthropy goes uncured. Hopefully someone has an idea to save Batman from his disturbing werewolf form.
Batman: Full Moon #2 is available now from DC Comics.
