According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have joined the group of Premier League clubs interested in signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Brazilian forward is reportedly of interest to Arsenal, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur too, but for the time being, Wolves insist he is not for sale.
Villa are yet to make their move for the services of the 25-year-old player, who predominantly plays as a centre-forward, while being able to cause problems for opposing defenders from either flank as well. Before they do, they will apparently need to move a player on, and the likeliest candidate to leave the club seems to be Jhon Duran, who is of interest to Saudi side Al-Nassr.
With Wolves locked in battle against relegation from the English top flight, sitting 17th at the moment with the same points tally (16) as 18th-place Ipswich Town and two points more than 19th-place Leicester City, Cunha’s departure from the Molineux this month doesn’t seem likely. But if Vitor Pereira’s team fail in that battle, the transfer would likely become imminent in the summer, despite two years remaining on his contract.
