A Beloved DC Hero Has Finally Unlocked the Powers He’s Needed for Ages

Green Lantern lore has been turned upside down by strange developments across the Emotional Spectrum, but a shining light has pierced through the dark unknowns as a familiar face returns to the Corps. Fan-favorite character Kilowog is back in action, atoning for his shocking betrayal of his friends and reclaiming his rightful Green Lantern powers at long last.


In Green Lantern #18 by Jeremy Adams, Xermánico, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Dave Sharpe, the war that’s ravaged DC’s cosmos finally reaches its climax as the Green Lanterns engage in a heated battle with Lord Premier Thaaros’ Dark Star form. Right when the odds seem to be stacked against the heroes, an unexpected ally emerges with a powerful green construct, and this turns out to be none other than Kilowog.

Kilowog’s long-awaited reunion with his fellow Green Lanterns hasn’t come easily, as he’s been forced to endure insurmountable turmoil in recent memory. In Green Lantern #7, on a mission with Hal Jordan, Kilowog was presumed dead after he got caught in the explosion of the Yellow Lanterns’ central power battery. However, he’s later revealed to have survived the blast in an unexpected twist, albeit as a Yellow Lantern consumed by the power of fear. Thaaros takes advantage of him in this state and manipulates him to join his cause, which results in Kilowog’s betrayal of the Green Lantern Corps.

With Jessica by his side, Kilowog rushes into action to help Hal and the other heroes now that his Green Lantern powers have come back. This beloved Green Lantern’s return arrives at the perfect time, now that Thaaros is out of the picture.

The Emotional Spectrum is in flux, producing never-before-seen Corps such as the Sorrow Lanterns that have upended the cosmic hierarchy of the DC Universe. To prepare for anything these new Fractal Lanterns may do next, the Green Lantern Corps is rebuilding itself – smaller, in the aftermath of Thaaros’ tyranny, yet better than ever. Kilowog is finally back, and so is the Green Lantern Corps.
