Moana 2 has set an impressive 2024 pre-sales ticket record. The highly anticipated animated Disney sequel sees Moana (Auliʻi Cravalho) and Maui (Dwayne Johnson) teaming up for another musical adventure. Following the critical and commercial success of the first Moana, released in 2015, Moana 2‘s story was originally developed as a Disney+ series. Disney CEO Bob Iger and other executives later made the decision to rework the sequel as a feature-length theatrical movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moana 2 has sold more first-day advance ticket sales than any animated 2024 movie, even exceeding the year’s highest grossing movie, Inside Out 2. Moana 2 is also the fourth-highest in first-advance ticket sales for all 2024 movies, with only Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked, and Dune: Part Two having more. With almost a month left until the Disney sequel debuts in theaters on November 27, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, it will continue to climb in first-day ticket pre-sales.
