Netflix has a rather intensive catalog of movies and television, with a plethora of popular Netflix original content pushed to the forefront. Because of this, it is sometimes hard for less popular shows to find an audience on the biggest streaming platform of all time. Still, there are so many underrated shows available to watch right now, and Amell’s series Heels should definitely be on everyone’s radar.
Given that Stephen Amell played Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow, the character who kicked off the Arrowverse, he is a well-beloved actor. Arrow was a hit for most of its run, and when it was over, Amell shifted to various other projects, and although he hasn’t hit that same popularity as his show Arrow, there are a couple of hidden gems in his career. In the era of streaming, series tend to get canceled left and right, and it certainly feels like that’s happening at a higher rate than ever before. Unfortunately for Heels, it ended up on the chopping block after it failed to grow a substantial audience over its two-season run. With it no longer relegated to Starz, Heels has the opportunity to increase its viewership on Netflix, which has happened over the years with other series. In fact, if it does well enough, there is a possibility that Heels can be revived on the streaming service.
Heels boss, Mike O’Malley, has talked about Heels moving to Netflix and his excitement at the idea that the fantastic series could finally find an audience. In an interview with TV Insider, he talked about what it means for the show to be on Netflix, stating:
The fact these episodes now live on a platform where everyone knows how to find it. We’re just thrilled it will be shared with people. The beautiful thing is all you have to do is go to Netflix, search Heels, and watch the episodes. We’re talking about 275 million people who have this platform. Hopefully, enough of them will watch it.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed in the era of streaming, but if Heels does actually find a sizable audience, there is a chance it could be renewed. Heels is ready to be watched on Netflix right now, and you should go see it.
