Despite its controversial release, Hogwarts Legacy did a fantastic job at replicating the authentic feeling of the Harry Potter franchise in video game form. While many games have tried to replicate the magic of the films before, none have come close to the commercial and critical success of Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts Legacy. While Hogwarts Legacy was a self-contained experience that had almost nothing to do with Harry’s story, its sequel has the perfect chance to bridge the gap between the films and the game in a creative way.
While not much is known just yet about the mysterious Hogwarts Legacy 2, other than that it will tie into the HBO Harry Potter series in some way. While this is a somewhat vague statement, since Hogwarts Legacy tells an entirely unique story apart from the film franchise, it would be the perfect opportunity to explore the backstory of named characters. Given Harry’s significance in the franchise and Hogwarts Legacy taking place a century before the novels, it could be the perfect chance to explore his family tree in never-before-seen detail.
Who Is Fleamont Potter?
A Biological Link To The Child Of Prophecy
Being the father of Harry’s father, James Potter, Fleamont is the biological grandfather to the namesake of the franchise and is the main reason for Potter’s massive wealth. While the true origins of the Potter name and financial success date all the way back to the successful potion business of their ancestor, Linfred of Stinchencombe, Fleamont played a crucial role in massively increasing the family’s worth.
After graduating from Hogwarts as a Gryffindor student, Fleamont developed Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion using the family resources in 1926, being able to quadruple the generational savings of the Potter family after selling the company that he owned to make the potion.

Hogwarts Legacy: Is Gringotts Bank & The Goblin Rebellion A Plot Hole?
Hogwarts Legacy’s State of Play seems to contradict itself with Gringotts bank and the game’s goblin rebellion, but small details make sense of it.
Aside from being the reason Harry had a massive vault of gold waiting for him at Gringots, Fleamont and his wife Euphemia also fostered Sirius Black for a short time, further strengthening his dedicated bond to the Potter family. While everything seemed to be going great for the Potters at the time, tragedy struck shortly after the ceremony that celebrated Lily and James Potter’s marriage. Fleamont and his wife ended up succumbing to a fatal disease known as Dragon Pox, leaving their fortune and possessions in the hands of their descendants before ever meeting their grandchild.
Why Fleamont Potter’s Story Would Be A Great Fit For Hogwarts Legacy 2
Providing A Natural Connection To The Main Harry Potter Storyline
While its true that Hogwarts Legacy has no shortage of storylines to continue in its sequel, it would be the perfect time to shed light on the lore of Harry’s family members. Although Fleamonts financial endeavors won’t make for very exhilarating gameplay, he could still be included as an extravagant NPC to encounter, even offering quests that could play a key role in developing or even saving his business.
With the time period for Hogwarts Legacy 2 not being set in stone, the developers could even opt to go further back into the history of the wizarding world, letting players experience the school-lives of Harry’s ancestors first hand.
There are still plenty of ways to tie into the films without overshadowing the self-contained narrative of Hogwarts Legacy.
Given Harry’s widespread appeal and iconic appearance, getting the chance to unpack the story of his ancestors would be an incredibly valuable asset to Hogwarts Legacy 2. While some would argue that a connection to Harry Potter is the last thing Hogwarts Legacy 2 needs, there are still plenty of ways to tie into the films without overshadowing the self-contained narrative of Hogwarts Legacy.
