Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim says his future will be announced after tomorrow night’s game against Estrela with the expectation being he will join Manchester United during the upcoming international break.
Reports in the United Kingdom on Thursday suggested the deal was already done with United paying €10million in compensation with an extra €1m on top to take Amorim before the end of his 30-day notice period.
It is thought the 39-year-old will stay at Sporting for their next three games, against Estrela and Braga, as well as the Champions League clash with Manchester City on Tuesday.
Assuming there are no late hitches, he will then join United and take charge for their first Premier League game after the international break at Ipswich on November 24.
Speaking at a press conference today, Amorim said: “It’s a negotiation between two clubs.
“It’s never easy, even with the clauses, they have to talk. We will have clarification after the game [against Estrela].
“It will be very clear. So it’s one more day after the game tomorrow, we will have the decision made.”

Amorim a huge fan of the Premier League
Asked what he liked about the Premier League, Amorim said: “Everything!”
The slight delay in Amorim’s arrival in Manchester means Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim period in charge will extend to United’s games against Chelsea and Leicester City in the Premier League and next week’s Europa League game against Greek side PAOK.
Van Nistelrooy made a stunning start to his temporary tenure with his United side beating Leicester 5-2 in the EFL Cup last night.
